Schedule
A new version of VisIt is typically released every 3 months, with a patch release usually following a month later. The patch release is used to fix any serious bugs that were discovered in the previous VisIt release.

The release schedule is determined by the VisIt project lead at LLNL, with input from VisIt developers at various sites.
